Wireless Systems
Wireless systems have come a long way. In the beginning, wireless sensors would fail, and no one would ever know about it. These days, wireless sensors are supervised, and give warnings for low batteries and supervisory troubles.
The upside of a wireless sensor is that it can be mounted in a hard to wire location, and cover an area that would be difficult to wire. Wireless alarms offer flexibility in installations of older homes, as well as ease of new part add-ons. For instance, you purchase a wireless system today, and in two years you want to add a smoke detector. The new detector can be added in two minutes, and programmed immediately. You have a no mess fully supervised smoke detector in five minutes.
The downside of wireless sensors is that the batteries require changing periodically. Most batteries will last a minimum of two years, with a likelihood of approximately five years. The batteries are sold at local hardware and electronics stores.
