False Alarms
False alarms are a growing problem and costing police and fire departments a large amount of money to deal with them. Please take a few minutes to go over some prevention techniques that will keep your system working correctly.
| Test your system weekly. Go to our testing page to learn more. | |
| Know how to use your system. Most false alarms are caused by user error. If you need help operating your alarm, contact us. We will be glad to help. | |
| Inspect your system. Frayed wires, broken foil or damaged equipment can cause many sleepless nights. | |
| Watch out for pets, sunlight and balloons. All three of these can set off a motion detector. If you suspect this is causing problems, contact us for an adjustment on your system. | |
| Make sure anyone that has access to your home also has the alarm code. Most panels can have multiple codes, so contact us for more info. | |
| If you enter in your code incorrectly, stop hitting buttons and count to five. Most alarm panels lock up to prevent tampering, and will unlock in those five seconds. | |
| If your windows have manual pull apart devices, be sure to open them before opening your window. This will cause stress on the pull apart and possibly break the wire. Also if they are loose, have them repaired or wrap them with a rubber band for a quick fix. | |
| Make sure you have enough time to enter and exit the premise. If you do not, it is a simple change in programming and your problem will be solved. |
